As men of faith and Catholic gentlemen, our primary mission is to grow in Christ and proclaim the power and love of the Holy Spirit. For several years, the Knights of Columbus have increased their focus on evangelization.
The state has made meaningful progress in strengthening Faith based leadership and fraternity. New Jersey currently has 311 active councils, 102 Council Evangelization and Faith Formation Directors, and 59 Cor gatherings. The plan for CY 2026–2027 is to significantly increase both the number of EFF Directors and Cor gatherings.

[email protected]What is Cor?Cor is a regular gathering of men built around a flexible framework of prayer, formation, and fraternity. It fosters Christ-centered brotherhood and helps men grow closer to Jesus Christ. As a Knights of Columbus initiative, Cor calls Catholic men back to Jesus Christ and forms them in faith and virtue.

The Three Elements of Cor
The Evangelization and Faith Formation Cor initiative includes three essential elements:
- Prayer - Through prayer, men encounter Christ and deepen their faith and relationship with him. Prayer strengthens the spirit and equips men to speak about God with others.
- Formation - Catholic formation helps disciples become more like Christ through spiritual and fraternal growth among members and other men seeking God.
- Fraternity - Fraternity is more than friendship; it is true brotherhood centered on Christ. It gives men a place to share how God has worked in their lives and to help one another face evil and life’s difficulties.
The Vision of Cor
To transform the hearts of Catholic men so they may lead their families, strengthen their parish communities, and courageously evangelize as missionary disciples of Jesus Christ.
Cor gatherings are:
- Open to all men of the parish, not just Knights
- Separate from council business meetings
- Flexible in format while maintaining the three essential elements
- Supported by extensive Supreme‑provided resources
Cor is more than a Men’s Group
Cor gatherings reflect the way Jesus formed his disciples and prepared them for mission. In the same way, Cor strengthens men to lead and evangelize with courage and purpose.
The establishment of the Council Evangelization and Faith Formation Director (EFF)
The EFF Director oversees evangelization efforts within the council. This role is comparable to the Council Program and Membership Directors and also provides oversight of the Cor initiative. Every Grand Knight should appoint a Council Evangelization and Faith Formation Director to help the council grow more Christ-centered and support its members in faith.

The implementation of the Cor initiative
The Cor initiative is a separate, recurring gathering where men come together for prayer, formation, and Christ-centered fraternity. It is open toall men, not only Knights of Columbus. The Cor website below provides the information needed to establish a Cor gathering. Supreme Cor Website

Selecting the Council Evangelization and Faith Formation Director
The growth of evangelization efforts and the Cor initiative depends heavily on the Council Evangelization and Faith Formation Director, with strong support from the Grand Knight and District Deputy. When selecting a Council EFF Director, the Grand Knight should choose a brother with strong spiritual maturity, a commitment to putting God first, and the ability to keep fellow brothers focused on Christ.
Duties of the Council Evangelization and Faith Formation Director
Appointed by and reporting to the Grand Knight, the EFF Director’s duties include:
